A Walk in Other's Shoes
Sometimes we all get frustrated at someone’s strange nature or behavior. We ,then wonder, why can’t they act a bit normal,as a “normal” human being, until we walk in their shoes!
When I joined in my new company, I decided to stay in their
accommodation, which is a sharing room. The whole thing was quite new to me.
The city, employer, people, culture and you name it. Abudhabi is a bit different if we compare it
with Dubai . When you come to Abudhabi,
after spending 2 years in Dubai, you won’t find happiness that fast.
Though I got a warm welcome in my new accommodation, I soon realized that what
I left in Dubai was a heaven. I was staying with my ‘friends’ there. I never
used the term ‘room mates’ to describe them if I had a talk about them. We
cooked together, ate together, went to movies and drunk together, and we hardly
had any disagreement or argument between us. Things were quite different in my
new place. Though it was fucking hard for the first few days, I slowly adapted
to the new environment.
There was a guy in my room, from a different state of India. Though he
seemed friendly, I soon figured out that he’s a kind of guy I never want to
share a room with. He over-talks
sometimes , kind of a big mouth guy. At night, he starts his international
calls. He seems like talking to everyone in his village, one after the other,
at 1 am or 2 am in GST. Does that ring any bells? Yeah, that’s almost 2.30am or
3.30am in IST. He disturbs not only his friends in India, but also his
room-mates through his loud, hollow voice, I thought. He never misses any soap serials which
broadcasted in his local channel, and thanks to Youtube, and I never get sleep
till he finish watching it. I, then thought, probably I might have done some kind
of sin that brought me here in this fucking place.
Siddique, a 29 year guy, who just got married, had to pick
out expat life to save his family. He had to catch the flight to Abudhabi, just
after 2 days of his marriage. He’s the youngest in his family, has 3 elder
brothers, who never took life so serious. So Siddique had to take everything onto his
shoulders. He is a school dropout. So he didn’t have much options to choose. So
when he got an opportunity to find a living in Gulf, he didn’t think twice. He
had to leave his wife, before getting a good post marriage bonding . But the family got into more problems then.
His lonely wife showed symptoms of mental sickness after few weeks. The poor
girl found herself so alone in the new place, without having anyone close to her,
to share her sadness. She had to do most of the house hold works in that house.
Soon his mother, got hospitalized and that automatically gave another load of
pressure on the new daughter in-law.Conflict over phone was so often. His wife
blamed him for her sickness and he blamed her family for not revealing her
sickness before marriage.Finally, Siddique
had to stop making phone calls to avoid the possible conflicts over phone. As a
new comer, he didn't have any friends in his new place. So he found some
comfort in sharing his story with his friends in India. He’s planning to move
the papers for divorce now.
Sometimes, you may have to deal with people, who seems so arrogant and frustrating. But, until you walk in their shoes, you’ll never know what kind of battle they are fighting in
their life. He never stopped frustrating
me and still continues his midnight, loud phone calls. But I stopped myself
from complaining about him to others.

Extinction of Humans In India
During those playful school time, I didn't quite understand the meaning of 'Unity in diversity' , that I heard in Social Studies class. Social Studies was a subject in primary school. It took years for me to understand the real meaning and the depth of that statement. In most of the nations, more precisely,in the rest of the nations, one doesn't have to worry about the difference in the culture or language, while traveling from one place to another. But things are totally different in India- travelling from one state to another is almost like travelling from one country to another-not in terms of the distance, but of language and culture.
When I finally understood the real meaning of that famous motto, I was quite impressed, proud and happy about my country. Having such a versatility, it's hard to go united. But we have been.
But where are we now?! Things changed a lot, like never before. The diversity is still there. But the borders between regions/cultures and religions are getting more defined. The so called 'unity' is nowhere to found. Well, that's partially wrong. There's unity , but just among the people from same group- same region, same culture or same religion. In fact, chances are high that you will be beaten to death, if you are found out spending time with a girl from other religion.
People are now a days keen, not just to praise their own group, but to degrade others' as well. No matter if you are a Hindu, Muslim or Christian, everyone travels in the same boat, at least in this matter.
Folks say it's social media which makes the people anti-social. Wrong! It's the people, who don't know how to use social media, make others too, anti-social. Through likes and shares, negative thoughts are being spread, faster than light. Poisonous people make poisonous groups to extract 'kalakoodam'( the supreme poison, which came out while Asuras and Devas extracting Amrit). So where are we headed?
We are crossing 1.25 billion. But the 'Humans' in India are facing an extinction.

Love!
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
RIGHT TIME (NOT ) TO CHANGE YOUR JOB
or
Lessons I learned while moving from Dubai to Abudhabi
We do have a million pages that teach us about the right
time you can quit a job. In fact, you don’t need a lesson for that. For some of
us, it just happen and for the rest, they make it happen.
My case was somewhat similar too. I was in a job in Dubai and on completion of the contract, I found another one. Though I could easily renew my contract, I opted for a change. After all , money matters, right? My soul needed a change too. So I in a very fresh morning, I decided to quit.
What Happens when you have liabilities on your credit card?
I knew the visa procedure might take a month or two for the new company. I figured out, if I keep some amount in my account, I could use it for my credit card payments. But things really didn't go as expected. As soon as the bank received my EOS( End of service) benefits, they withheld it , saying that I have to submit the new visa and other details to release the amount. This is actually a standard rule in U. A. E, which I couldn't foresee.
What Happens when you have a personal loan?
The bank which gave you personal loan, uses the cheques issued by you , to get the monthly payment from your primary account. So what happens when your primary account get frozen? Your cheques start bouncing. The bank may wait for a month, or maximum two-not more than that. You have to find a way to fill the money in your loan account. Another thing, every time you delay your payments, the interest hits new heights.
What happens when quality of life changes?
Moving from one city to another, is like moving from one culture to another, sometimes. Don't expect the quality of life in Dubai , in the capital city, Abudhabi. People complains about huge traffic and crowd in Dubai, and says AD is much calmer place. AD is more greener and boasts about great parks too. But the public transport in Dubai is way ahead of Abudhabi, with it's much praised driverless metros and mobile apps. You've got an app for everything, in Dubai. Let it be about going somewhere: choose your destination and the app will tell you which bus/metro you should take and where to get off. If you need a taxi, touch your finger on another app, and you'll receive a call from the taxi company. Finally, the people in Dubai- I love them.
Communication
In Dubai, if you don't speak Arabic, don't worry about it at all. 95% of people can speak good English-including natives. So communication is not a problem at all. I lived quite happily there for more than two years without knowing a single word in Arabic. But things are quite different in Abudhabi. I guess more than 60% of people doesn't speak much in English. So if you don't know Arabic, at least a few important words, things gonna be a bit difficult here.

So think twice before you plan to change your job or moving from one city to another. If that's going to make only a few bucks difference, i advice not to go for it. Stay where you are comfortable, and enjoy your life.
